On Friday morning we had our little playgroup over for a small Sesame Street themed celebration. The boys were very excited to have their friends come play. We'd planned to celebrate with games outside, but it rained all night and was rather cool (of course by the afternoon it was bright, sunny and warm).
If I was to pick one thing Teague might possibly remember from this birthday - it's Elmo cake, either cupcakes, cakes, or just plain red frosting.
The boys had themed shirts. I wanted to give Teague an Elmo shirt for his birthday and had trouble finding anything cute (Etsy really let me down). Their Auntie Olivia found a site with cute iron on transfers and this was created.
Neland had his choice of Oscar the Grouch or Super Grover. Here's what he choose:
Despite looking cute, this is how Teague felt most of the morning. I'm pretty sure he was just fed cookie after cookie to keep him happy.
On to the events:
We started decorating cookies.
Then while everyone finished up there was coloring (as in Elmo's World).
From coloring we moved to finding that one special rubber ducky.
One of the more popular games of the morning.
For this game, there was colored crumbled paper thrown around the room, each child was assigned a color and had to clean up his trash before everyone else.
We were able to head outside for one of the games.
The kids threw bean bags in the hula hoop circles. I mistakenly numbered them, it should have been a 3 at the top, then 2s, and then 1s at the bottom. If that had been done correctly, the person with the lowest score would win. The way I numbered it, you wanted the highest score and if you missed a hoop you earned 5 points.
Finally there was
While we waited for pizza, the kids visited the games they enjoyed the most. The little ones loved the ducks and the big ones wanted the trash game.
We ate pizza, sang happy birthday (Teague sang to himself) and enjoyed Elmo cupcakes.
Red icing was everywhere. Thank goodness it easily washed out. Teague has asked for this shirt multiple times.
After lunch, more trash game.
What fun is a huge trash can if you can't climb in it and pretend to be Oscar.
After a hour or so of a free for all, Teague opened a couple gifts. He was very excited (and even today he asked for "more presents").
Teague had an absolute blast and was exhausted by the time the part was over. Needless to say, nap time was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
