The hygenist put his sunglasses on and he promptly removed them, turned them upside down, then placed them back on.
Chris and I suspected Teague had chipped a tooth although neither of us knows when or where, but our dentist confirmed there was a chip. Luckily it is small and not of concern to her.
While Teague was a model patient, it did not help Neland's fears. He started crying the minute they asked him to sit in the chair and there were random wails that accompanied the tears. There was no use of Mr. Slurpie. It was a victory that the hygenist was able to clean his teeth, last time after a good thirty minutes, the dentist came along and somehow convinced him to let her clean his teeth.
We were up early to fight the traffic and make it to the appointment on time, and by preschool pick up time, Teague was out.
This week Teague had his three year old check up. We had quiet a wait in the waiting room, but I don't mind at all because we are never rushed during our visits and that means a lot to me, even if I have to wait because they aren't rushing the patient and parents in front of me. Teague entertained himself taking pictures of himself.
After a height, weight, and blood pressure check, there was more waiting. We read books and played with some wikki sticks they gave us.
Teague's check up went great (and no vaccinations were needed)! He weighed in at 32 pounds (around 50%) and was 41 inches (around 100%). Our old ped would have probably wanted him remeasured, because he went from under 50% to this. They also checked his eyes. For the most part our visit was about nutrition, which I really enjoy discussing. Our ped took on my questions about GMOs, flax, vitamin D, and calcium sources. Sometimes I wish I could take a voice recorder in to relisten to the discussion and take notes on things I may have missed.
As a side note, Teague is a huge trouble maker. To the point where I've moved his mattress back into the nursery and he has slept in there the past few nights. He refuses to listen at night and he refuses to leave Neland alone, which means we end up with two very tired boys, day after day. And I couldn't find a solution, so after sharing a room since August I waived the white flag and moved Teague. He even actually napped that first day. Since then, he's been really upset about sleeping in another room, but not enough to stop the running down the hall and the talking. Once he does stop, he'll get a chance to redeem himself in Neland's room. And in speaking of sleeping issues, every night, around midnight, he crawls into our bed. He always has to be in the middle and under the covers. He also enjoys being glued to one of us. Which honestly is really really sweet.
And in other unrelated news, today I had an appointment for some gum work. Chris watched the boys while I had the procedure and then we met to switch cars and kids back to the other. I had an ice pack that once I was home needed to be on my jaw for an hour. Interestingly enough, once we were home, my boys seemed to need ice packs as well. I'll just call it sympathy pains.
